MARSHALLTOWN, IA – Santa and his elves provided pet owners with pictures, while Diamond in the Ruff was the recipient of over $500 as the result of two Pet Nights with Santa at Marshalltown Mall.
The past three years, Santa and Marshalltown Mall have staged “Pet Night With Santa”. Animal lovers bring their pets in to have pictures taken with Santa, who in return donates the proceeds from the sales of the pictures. This is the second year that Diamond in the Ruff Rescue has been the recipient of Santa’s love for his four legged friends and other pets.
As a result of those picture sales, Santa raised $500.00 for the local charity, which strives to find abandoned dogs and cats and provide care for the animals until a “Forever Home” is found for the cat or dog.
Originally this Holiday Season only one Pet Night was scheduled at Marshalltown Mall. “The response to that first night was so overwhelming, we scheduled a second Pet Night,” according to Susan Schuett-Krough, Marshalltown Mall Marketing Coordinator. “Not only were pet lovers excited to have their pet’s picture taken with Santa Clause, pet owners were very generous in donations to Diamond in the Ruff Rescue, above the price of purchasing any pictures.”
Diamond in the Ruff Rescue released a statement saying “…This event has been the BEST Present we could receive this holiday season. Seeing the communities support of our rescue and the appreciation shown to the volunteers who make it operate day in and day out was absolutely heartwarming…”
Diamond in the Ruff Rescue is a 501c3 non profit, volunteer based animal rescue covering Marshall and Tama Counties. All “Diamond” pets are place in a loving home for assessment and care until they can be adopted. The rescue provides the volunteer homes with food, supplies and covers all vet costs. We strive to educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets to prevent overpopulation.
